The differences that affect a dive
- Both are Epic, with 2.5% normal and 10.5% Lucky chances in the community table. Older descriptions calling either one Rare are inaccurate for this source.
- Anglerfish gives +8% Cash, +12% damage and −0.2 seconds cooldown, illumination and a 20% chance of double drops when catching fish. Double drops are not a verified increase in a mutation’s spawn chance.
- Crab adds +15% oxygen, +5% XP and +15% weight, with a 25% chance to absorb attacks. That wording is a chance per incoming event, not permanent 25% damage reduction or a guaranteed shield.
- For unthreatened routine catching, the drop and cooldown effects are relevant comparisons. For repeated incoming attacks or a limited oxygen budget, Crab’s passives answer a different need; neither supplies an unlimited oxygen source.
Anglerfish full mechanics
A player who values visibility and a catch-drop effect without requiring the oxygen-recovery behavior of another race.
Limitations
- A 20% proc does not mean every fifth catch is guaranteed to double.
- It does not guarantee rare fish or a chosen mutation.
- It is Epic in the source, not Rare as the former page claimed.
Crab full mechanics
A player preferring additional oxygen and possible hit protection, while still planning for an unabsorbed attack.
Limitations
- The next hit may still connect; do not plan oxygen around a guaranteed absorb.
- It does not have Anglerfish’s illumination or double-drop entry.
- It is Epic in the source, not Rare.
