S-tier races are strong, but shard cost changes the recommendation. Kraken is the prestige chase, Sea Angel is the safer premium recommendation, Shark helps dangerous routes, and Vampire Squid stabilizes long dives.
A-tier races are not bad. They are the races you can keep while building money, oxygen and harpoon consistency. A new account that burns every shard on rerolls often progresses slower than a player who accepts a strong A-tier roll and upgrades the route.
The board is intentionally draggable because community rankings are not enough. A boss-route player, fish-pond player and quest completion player should not always rank the same race in the same place.
A tier list is useful only if it prevents waste. Decide how many Star Shards you are willing to spend before the first pull. If the result is a strong A-tier race, many players should stop and improve their money route instead.
The best race depends on the session. A player farming deep routes values sustain, a player chasing bosses values safety and combat pressure, and a player building income values consistency more than prestige.
Kraken belongs in S tier, but its odds make it a long-term chase. Newer players should not treat Kraken as the minimum acceptable result unless they can farm shards back without delaying core progression.
The draggable board lets you move races based on your account. If Shark solves your deaths better than Sea Angel solves your farming, your saved list should reflect that even when the default community order differs.
